Through research and development, strategic partnerships, and cutting-edge programming, we extend our reach beyond the classroom to support the economic development of the coastal Savannah region and provide high-level education needed for area employers to grow its current and future workforce,
K12 Support
Our Savannah Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC) offers summer camps for K-12 students, personalized training for teachers and parents, and robotics competitions. Through the GIFT (Georgia Intern Fellowships for Teachers) program, K-12 teachers are placed in paid summer STEM internships to give them real world applications for the classroom.
MOU Signed in Savannah
The Georgia Ports Authority, Georgia Tech, and Georgia Center for Innovation for Logistics (COI) signed an MOU in support of the state's logistics industry in economic development, research, and education. GTPE offers more than 30 courses and nine certificates in supply chain and logistics to meet workforce development needs of this industry.
Smart Cities Project
Coastal flooding represents a growing threat to the City of Savannah and adjoining areas in Chatham County. The Smart Sea Level Sensors project is a partnership between Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) officials, City of Savannah officials, and Georgia Tech scientists and engineers who are working together to install a network of internet-enabled sea level sensors across Chatham County.
